Outdoor Skills Program

A great way to spend a day in the outdoors with your students. The focus of this program is to provide participants with safe, fun, experiential activities.

After an introduction to the facility, instructors, and the day we play a number of large group games to ‘break the ice’.

When you come to the center for a full day you are guaranteed two of our skill options. Staffing is 1 instructor: 12 participants.

The participants can pick from the following: Canoeing, Kayaking, Archery, the Outdoor Climbing Tower, TK’s Lost and Found (Orienteering), the Zip Lines, the Giant Team Swing, the Vertical Playpen or if you are planning a canoe trip with your class, we have a great off the shelf Canoe Trip Preparatory program.

Our staff employs a very experiential approach to introduce students to the chosen skill. The instructor will use games and activities designed to reinforce the skill being taught. We are devoted to using the concept of ‘play’ as a learning tool and have found the results to be very positive.

One of the most important components of any outdoor education experience is the wrap-up at the end of the day. Instructors will reflect back on the day with the participants to ensure that the group leaves with a language they can use to describe their experience.

This is just a quick introduction to the Skills Program, if you would like more information please contact Kevin French the Program Director at (905) 833-3333 ext. 5054.
