
CHALLENGER ADVENTURE OPTIONS (Ages 10 & 11)
Challengers must be ages 10 or 11 by December 31, 2012.

In the Challenger Options program, campers are able to choose two options for the week upon registration. One option will take place in the morning everyday and the other option will take place in the afternoon everyday.
The Outdoor Skill options you may choose from are:
Multi Ventures
This program has a bit of everything camp has to offer. Over the week you’ll be able to experience programs using canoes, kayaks, the climbing tower, archery and the vertical playpen! Lots of fun is built in to make sure this is tons of fun! Even if you’ve done these things before they’re a ton of fun to do with a group of new friends!
Air Adventures
Personal Challenge, teamwork and good times in the air! As a group you’ll create a community of support and cooperation and then put it to the test on the Swing, Zip Lines, Flying Squirrel and time on the Ropes Course.
Mountain Biking
This is the 1st stage of KDC’s efforts to develop your camper into a competent mountain bike rider. Campers will learn about the fundamental skills like the ready position, gearing and hill work as they ride our double and single track trails. You must be a self-sufficient and experienced bike rider with a basic understanding of gears. KDC supplies the bikes and you supply your helmet and water bottle.
Land Adventures
Start your week with 2 days of mountain bike instruction (remember to bring your helmet and water bottle on the first day) then use your bike to get around camp for the rest of the week! You’ll spend time learning camping skills, participating in a wood working project, trying your hand at archery, and going back to the pioneer days!
Watercraft
This is Step 1 in developing your skills on the water. You’ll receive 2 days of experiential canoe and kayak instruction and 1 day of sailing introduction. The focus will be on fun but you will learn about parts of the boats, lifts and carries, strokes to make the boats do what you need them to do and a little bit about capsizing safety. Your day of sailing will provide you with a gentle introduction to the world of sailing. Big stable boats will be provided to make sure it’s a positive experience. Your instructor will rotate around the boats on the lake to make sure you’re doing well!
Climbing
Sport climbing is emerging as a new activity appealing to many. This is a great program to get started in the sport. ‘Climbing’ will provide you with the skills you need to get involved! You’ll spend three days at the climbing complex learning about bouldering techniques, vertical climbing technique, belay skills including rapelling ,and you’ll also spend time at the vertical playpen!
Arts Outside
Need a break from all the active and fast paced options? This program will give you a chance to slow down and create masterpieces that celebrate the beauty of the King Campus. You’ll be guided using different artistic mediums by an experienced staff that will help you make the most of your time!
